We hope that you enjoy looking at the information contained within these pages. We aim to provide balanced, respectful and up-to-date information in regards to Caesarean Birth and Vaginal Birth After Caesarean. Our focus is on women healing from a previous traumatic or upsetting birth experience by caesarean, and helping women to achieve an empowering birth experience for their future births. We assist women through coffee get-togethers, volunteer support contacts (phone and email), a library and a quarterly newsletter.

To navigate the site use the menu buttons at the top for the topic of your choice, then the sub-menu on the side is your selection of information we have on the web site. Some of the information overlaps the categories. If there is anything missing from the site, that you believe we should have, please with your suggestions. We want information to be relevant to women and their partners in helping them plan their birth or seek healing from a previous birth experience.

Please note that CARES SA is an Adelaide based non-profit support group for women and their partners. CARES SA is completely independent, our primary focus is support to women, however it is important we stay abreast of current trends and studies. We act as a voice for women, we are not anti-caesarean and do not see 'trouble-making' as being beneficial for anyone. We come from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences and preferences of birth place. In most cases you can speak to a member who has shared a similar experience to your own.

We understand that women make choices they believe are in the best interest of their baby and themselves. Women usually make these choices through the guidance of an obstetrician and hospital staff. Women need to be respected for these choices, and equally supported when they doubt that the choice they made was right. Our wish is that women can make truly informed choices for their child's birth and the information in these pages will assist in this.

CARES SA is run on the energy and dedication of a few women, who are mothers with young children. We are women who have shared experiences of birth in all forms and passionately believe that women today deserve to have an empowered birth experience no matter what circumstances.
