ERA is a non-party-political organisation whose long-term goal is to achieve a socially, environmentally and financially sustainable economic system. It believes that decision-making on a range of issues should be allowed to devolve to the community level as far as practicable. ERA is firmly opposed to economic rationalist ideology, and supports measures which will help to bring about more humane and cooperative social structures. It's many short-term objectives include the reintroduction of an adequate regulatory framework for the entire financial system, implementation of creative and viable schemes for funding infrastructure and essential services (such as the Sovereignty loan scheme currently in vogue within the USA), a system of foreign exchange management designed to bring imports and exports into rough balance (such as the Impex scheme), together with financial transactions taxes (including Tobin taxes and taxes on derivatives trading) and a reformed foreign investment review board. By these and other means ERA seeks to strengthen democracy and to return the ultimate control of the economic and financial system to the people.

ERA Membership Application Or Renewal

Membership of ERA is available to individuals who agree with the objectives and policies of ERA as summarised above. The yearly membership and/or subscription fee is $20.00. Members will receive newsletters at two monthly intervals. The membership year runs from January 1 to December 31. It would be appreciated if new members would calculate the part of the year remaining and remit the appropriate pro-rata amount, or pay for the following year as well. Cheques should be made out to ERA and returned with this form to the
