On March 1st 2002, three of the Country's greatest guitar players gathered for a 4 hour extravaganza to assist affected families, communities and emergency services, in an effort to raise funds for the "Christmas 2001 Bushfire Appeal". Phil Emmanuel, Ian Moss and Kevin Borich performed at Sweeney's At Scenic Hills in Ingleburn in a showcase event that had the audience screaming for more. Completing the incredible line up of Australian icons was some of the Country's most sought after backing artists:- bass player Phil Small, drum king Rohan Hems, bass man Rob O'Sullivan and resident funny man and MC for the evening Nick Penn. Guests were also treated to a very special surprise in the form of Steve Mulry, incredibly talented brother of the late, great Ted. It was a great honour for us to have Steve join us in the show and he did his brother proud. 'Guitar World' at Campbelltown kindly donated a red Fender Strat which was signed by all the players and raffled off on the night, making it the only one of its kind in the world!! Signed posters were also given away, and some of the fans were even lucky enough to be able to get photos with the guys after the show. It was an incredible night, and thoroughly enjoyed by all present. A very big thank you goes to David Sweeney for his generosity and incredible staff that assisted us at every turn, both before and during the night. To the fans, without your generosity and enthusiasm, the night would not have been a success. And last, but by no means least, the players. Thank you for sharing your talents with us and for your generosity in helping the victims of the horrific bushfires. |
