Julia Parker - BIO

Julia Parker was born to play in the Phil Emmanuel Band!! She started her musical career playing guitar at the age of seven and a half, and prior to that,  between the ages of three and five played the violin. It was once she started to take the guitar very seriously with 8 hour practice days and guitar lessons with guitar great Terry Murray, that she started to get pretty good at it too!

Julia's family relocated to the Gold Coast of Queensland and she started to attend local jam nights with her father Greg, where she would perform mainly guitar instrumentals and jam with whoever needed a guitar player.

When she was 13, she was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to tour throughout Queensland and NSW with a popular cover band of the time "Donna and the Moderation" - The travel experience provided Julia with many valuable hours of live experience and saw her receive an enormous amount of media attention.

After playing with a number of different bands and still only 14, Julia started playing with prominent Gold Coast duo "Double Shuffle". Their busy schedule enabled Julia to gain a huge amount of gigging time, averaging 3 to 5 shows per week - this young guitarist was carving her place in history. While juggling a heavy workload and still keeping up with her Schooling, she managed to achieve a Junior Certificate comprising 5 Very High Achievements and 1 High Achievement - quite incredible to say the least!

It was around this time (age 15) that Julia was invited to play 2nd guitar for her hero - Phil Emmanuel who was putting a band together. The rest you could say is history, but for this young Gold Coast woman, the rest is no ordinary existence.

In between working with Phil Emmanuel, and keeping up the busy touring schedule, she has also formed her own band "Project Winterhaven" with her brother Joe, and long time friend 'Chubbs'.  PWH are quite often seen doing a mighty fine job of supporting the Phil Emmanuel Band during tours and many gigs around the Country.

At 22, Julia is easily one of Australia's best female guitarists, but she was also nominated for Young Australian Of The Year in 2001 and was selected as a finalist in what was a very tough selection process.

'Julz' is currently in the UK with her brother Joe and they are showing Europe exactly what she is capable of, and has secured herself 4 residencies per week all within the first 2 weeks of being in the Country..... what a woman!
